Recently, with the support of Carbon Newture, Suzhou Adson Low Carbon Technology Co., Ltd. (“Adson”) completed the carbon footprint calculation of its core product—the bio-based PDI adhesive molded pallet—and obtained certification from the authoritative third-party organization SGS.

Notably, this bio-based pallet is primarily made from waste wood, small-diameter timber, and agricultural and forestry residues, which account for over 95% of its composition. This approach enables circular utilization of wood resources and is significantly more low-carbon and environmentally friendly compared to traditional wooden, plastic, or metal pallets. Furthermore, Adson replaced conventional chemical adhesives with a bio-based PDI adhesive, enhancing the product’s “green content” and providing strong data support and compliance assurance for expanding into global green markets.

02. Adson’s first bio-based PDI adhesive molded pallet achieves carbon footprint certification and transparent disclosure

Pallets are often overlooked “behind-the-scenes” players in logistics—yet they support over 90% of global cargo transport[1]. Markets like the EU are already prioritizing traceable, low-carbon certified logistics carriers in procurement.

Adson developed the world’s first bio-based PDI adhesive molded pallet using a low-energy, environmentally friendly production process and an eco-specific PDI adhesive. The pallets are primarily made from waste wood, small-diameter timber, and agricultural and forestry residues (with over 95% bio-based material by mass).

What’s more, the PDI (pentamethylene diisocyanate) used by Adson is derived from plant-based starch and other materials. Compared to traditional MDI chemical adhesives, PDI provides significantly greater value for the circular green economy. Despite its price being nearly double that of MDI, Adson chose the more eco-friendly option to reduce its carbon footprint.

The carbon footprint of Adson’s bio-based pallet (model AD-11001100-93) was verified at 1.8859 kg CO₂eq per unit—lower than that of traditional wooden, plastic, or metal pallets.

The carbon footprint accounting scope covers the entire product life cycle—from raw material acquisition, manufacturing, and product transport to end-of-life disposal—following the “cradle to grave” principle. The assessment strictly adheres to ISO 14067, ensuring scientific accuracy and reliability.

Precise modeling + verified by authoritative third party

Carbon Newture provided accurate modeling and calculations for Adson’s bio-based pallet and partnered with a reputable third party to issue the carbon footprint verification certificate, ensuring data reliability and regulatory compliance.

Transparent disclosure: breaking down carbon data barriers in logistics

Adson has disclosed the carbon data of its bio-based pallet on the [China Carbon Disclosure Platform for Light Industrial Products and Arts-Crafts], making its carbon footprint information visible, traceable, and verifiable—paving the way to overcoming carbon data barriers in the logistics industry.

Continuous emissions reduction toward Net Zero

Beyond product footprint accounting, Carbon Newture has helped Adson develop a long-term low-carbon strategy. It provided science-based recommendations on actions such as increasing solar power usage and replacing fossil fuels with biomass. Both parties will continue to explore more pathways for emission reduction and energy conservation.
