Currently, many Western countries have begun to include carbon footprint as a mandatory requirement for wind power product bids, significantly impacting international wind power market access mechanisms. For instance, Enel, the Italian national electricity company, explicitly requires suppliers to provide carbon footprint information for wind turbine products during the bidding process, converting this information into scoring criteria and incorporating it into procurement decisions.
This indicates that both policy direction and market regulation are jointly shaping and improving the low-carbon ecological value chain. As highly integrated products, the low-carbon demands of end products like wind turbines will ultimately propagate upstream along the supply chain. Upstream companies involved in raw materials, electronic components, and manufacturing processes will be required to provide lower-carbon materials and components, as well as adopt lower-carbon production methods.
